Caretaking & Property Maintenance

DIY-friendly

Performing a few simple monthly maintenance tasks on your second home can prevent costly repairs down the road. The good news is that, if caught early, most of these tasks are DIY-friendly and should cost very little to perform. We can often undertake minor fixes, repairs and decorating personally, depending on what skills are involved.

It’s important to note that homeowners in France have certain legal responsibilities when it comes to maintaining their properties – specifically with regard to the removal of fire hazardous undergrowth around a property, septic tank maintenance and the safe disposal of waste water.

Tailored services

Our comprehensive range of services can be tailored to meet your needs – we can take care of as much, or as little, as you need.  We can work with you to keep your property adequately maintained – putting together a proposal for its maintenance with suggestions for improvements (together with budget costings for any larger remedial work).  We can conduct a thorough inspection of your property and report back to you with our findings along with supporting photos. As the most frequent visitors to your property, we can spot potential issues and bring them to your attention before they become major problems.minor maintenance

routine maintenance

Routine or ongoing minor maintenance work would be agreed with you prior to commencing any work.  Such work can cover, testing and replacement of smoke and carbon-monoxide detectors, arranging for your heating boiler to be serviced, your septic tank emptied, and your chimney swept. Noting any plumbing or electrical problems.  Charges would be based on the hourly rate for work done by us.

Contractors

Any work done by outside contractors would be charged to you at cost, together with our hourly rate for overseeing, passing on your instructions or checking that they have completed the work. Again, you would be kept informed at each stage to make sure you feel in control, even at a distance.

Materials

Sourcing of materials for maintenance. We have a range of good suppliers for virtually everything relating to your house or garden. We aim for quality products in the mid-price bracket but will of course source anything you want.  On the basis that we are buying competitively in all cases, these goods would be charged to you at cost (which will involve paying us in advance so that we have funds to purchase the items on your behalf) plus the cost incurred for checking out and collecting the materials if this applies.
